Mother Giraffe - Royal Crown Derby Paperweight

The tallest of all mammals, these amazing creatures roam the open grassland in small groups searching for food and water. Using their height to good advantage they browse on buds and leaves in the treetops that few other animals can reach (acacias are a favorite). Their height is also an advantage when scanning for predators across the wide expanse of the African savanna, but can be a disadvantage when they need to drink as they have to bend into an awkward position which makes them vulnerable to predators like Africa’s big cats. Luckily they only need to drink once every several days as they obtain all the moisture they need from the luscious plants that they eat.
